Renee Miller
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
With over 35 years of teaching experience in both public and private schools, Mrs. Miller is passionate about families having choices to educate their children in dynamic and joyful ways. She received her B.A. and M.A. from Point Loma Nazarene College. After teaching in the public school system in California and the Dept. of Defense Dependent Schools (DODDS) in Germany, she founded Liberty Classical Academy, originally calling it The Garden School, in 1997, with her husband David. This was the beginning of a hybrid form of schooling for their seven children. Renee became the Head of School for LCA. David and Renee also started and operated an alternative, drop-out retrieval program for 13 years called Crossroads Academy. Renee founded Cornerstone Classical School in Basalt in 2012 and has taught ESL and GED Classes for CMC. Currently, Renee is the Executive Director for Colorado Homeschool Enrichment (CHE) and New Castle Learning Advantage (NCLA), two new ventures created to meet educational demands in our communities.
Jeff Cooper
DIRECTOR & CO-FOUNDER
Jeff Cooper has spent the last 20 years leading high school/middle school students into the wilderness. His appreciation and honor for the power of wild places to transform youth began in California, where he created a successful student ministry and adventure program at Spirit Christian Academy. When he relocated his family to Colorado Springs, Jeff established these programs as essential pillars of The University School, which he founded and launched. In 2009, Jeff founded
Venture Off to disciple and minister the gospel to students around the country using the wilderness. Jeff continues to support the University Model of schooling as an active member of the
National Association of University Model Schools, Inc. Board of Directors. Jeff, his wife, and their three daughters live adventurously in Colorado Springs, where she homeschools their children and leads a Homeschool Micro-Campus. Jeff holds certifications in canyoneering, climbing, and wilderness medicine.
Joshua Gallardo
Assistant financial controller
Joshua has 16 years of experience supporting non-profit organizations in business management, leadership, and strategic communication. He is skilled in guiding diverse teams and managing complex, multifaceted projects, demonstrating a strong commitment to organizational leadership and development. Joshua helps to create and implement effective communication strategies, fostering team collaboration, and driving operational efficiency across various functional areas.In addition to his professional pursuits, Joshua has a passion for community engagement and has played a pivotal role in various local initiatives. He enjoys connecting with people of various walks in life and helping them to achieve their goals.Joshua's educational background, having been home-schooled for the majority of his high school career, instilled in him the values of self-motivation and independent learning. He extends this passion for education to his family, where he and his wife are dedicated to homeschooling their five children, fostering an environment of curiosity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.
Mike Carter

Passionate about alternative education, Mike is a dedicated veteran and entrepreneur committed to fostering opportunities in homeschooling. With several years of experience in alternative learning for his own children, Mike actively serves the homeschool community. His enthusiasm lies in helping families create diverse opportunities through Colorado Homeschool Enrichment. Mike's love for serving people and advancing educational opportunities is a driving force in his mission to empower homeschool families.
Dawn Lamping
Micro Campus Coordinator Eastern Colorado and Western Slope
Dawn Lamping was educated at University of Missouri and Arizona State University, earning her B.S. degree in psychology, management, and English, and continuing with post-graduate study in education, neuroscience of learning, and education policy. She is a homeschool parent of grown children. A lifetime educator, she has managed a university tutoring program and test prep service, served as a corporate trainer and program designer, and has taught as a private instructor and tutor, focusing on creative curriculum design and individualized instruction. She has been active in community service to the homeschool and mothering communities throughout her career. Married for 34 years, her two homeschooled children are “launched” in their career paths in the arts and finance.
Jeanette Thompson
CHE Main Campus Director
Her background includes serving on Rifle's Planning and Zoning Board, four years as a Rifle City Council member, serving on the Liberty Classical Academy Board, and volunteering in her church's nursery. She has lived in Rifle for 31 years with her husband, Kelly, and their two children. In college, Jeanette majored in German, studied French for three years, and Spanish for two. She is loving the challenge of coordinating with both homeschool and private school families for New Castle's enrichment program.
