Sports Support Program

Course Description:

Students in this support program will be heavily involved in competitive sports throughout the school year. Students must commit to both a fall and a spring sport to be eligible for this course. If a student is involved in one semester of sports, they are likely eligible for our “Sports Plus” program that combines one semester of competitive sports with additional CHE programming.

Please contact Lindsey (719 398 1681) if you need help determining which sports program is the best fit for you.

Program Objectives:

In this class, students will gain support in the sports they are engaging in. Involvement in sports increases students’ health - physically, mentally and emotionally. When students are involved in sports, they learn important life skills such as team work, responsibility, respect, and perseverance. Students involved in sports learn to value community and continue to be an integral part of both their school community and community at large.

Financial Support:

Athletes will have access to funds to help pay for sports fees, uniforms and equipment needed.

Mentoring:

Athletes will be mentored monthly by connecting with a college level athlete. Athletes will also be encouraged to be in mentoring relationships with student athletes younger than them.

Tutoring:

Academics are an important part of an athlete’s high school career. Setting a strong educational foundation in high school will ensure the student will thrive after high school as well, whether higher education or the workforce is their goal. Students in this program will have access to 16 hours of tutoring per year.

Grading Policies:

As a homeschool enrichment program, we do not issue grades or credits. This program is designed to help support athlete success. In order to continue participating in this program, the student athlete must complete a log of their practice time and game time.

Cost:

There is no cost to the parent or student because this class is a program of the Colorado Homeschool Enrichment. CHE is a publicly funded program to benefit homeschooled and private school students with programs to enrich their standard course load.  All students must enroll with CHE in the summer to be prepared to start the program in the fall. Eligible students must NOT be enrolled in any other publicly funded program at the time of enrollment.
